Melissa Burnell, LMHC
Melissa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a background in leadership and training. Her experience includes working with individuals and partnered relationships struggling with general mental health, substance abuse, trauma, managing stress and anxiety, and relationship intimacy issues. Melissa obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master's of science from Marian University in Mental Health Counseling. She began her career working in substance abuse treatment centers where she built a passion for working with first responders, active military and veterans. This led Melissa to work as a trainer for executive leadership and mental health wellness for Homeland Security providing education to first responders. She presents mental health training and education to veterans, active military and corporations in Indiana.
Melissa specializes in managing stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and life transitions. She received her certificate in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan to help clients in intimacy issues, communication, and out of control sexual behaviors. Melissa utilizes therapeutic techniques such as Brainspotting, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Gottman method couples therapy, and mindfulness. Her goal is to create an atmosphere of nonjudgement and openness to assist individuals in working through struggles that feel difficult to manage on their own.
