Michelle Furgason, LMHC
Michelle is a dedicated mental health professional with a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and an active license for mental health counseling (LMHC). With several years of experience in both community mental health and private practice, she has developed a strong rapport working with older teens and individual adults. Her membership in prestigious organizations such as the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), and the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) highlights her commitment to professional development. Additionally, she holds the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential and is recognized as a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC), showcasing her specialized focus on assisting first responders.
Michelle’s extensive background in public safety, encompassing 20 years as both an officer and dispatcher, informs her understanding of the unique challenges faced by first responders and those who experience trauma. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), using her training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to facilitate healing from traumatic memories. In her therapeutic approach, Michelle employs cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) alongside EMDR to provide an effective framework for her clients.
Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys sharing life with her husband, their four adult children, and two granddaughters, which enriches her personal perspective on resilience and growth
